After giving birth to a baby girl in a bathtub on Jan. 2, 2023, Grace Steinmetz allegedly put the baby in a plastic bag and hid her in a closet. The next day, she allegedly admitted to police officers that she had given birth and put the baby in the closet.

Steinmetz was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and child abuse and booked into the Spokane County Jail with her bail set at $500,000.

What Evidence Did They Find At The Scene?

Police were called to a home on East 44th Avenue following a report of a suicidal woman. When they arrived, they found Steinmetz with the baby, who was alive but had serious injuries. The baby was taken to the hospital and Steinmetz was taken into custody.
