Serbia earn late draw with Slovenia in Euro 2024 opener

Slovenia vs Serbia ends in a 1-1 draw

Substitute Luka Jovic heads late equaliser for Serbia

Serbia scored deep into injury time to earn a 1-1 draw with Slovenia in their opening match of Euro 2024.

Substitute Luka Jovic headed home a cross from Dusan Tadic in the 94th minute to cancel out Benjamin Sesko's opener for Slovenia.

The draw leaves both teams with a point after the first round of matches in Group B.

Slovenia took the lead in the 28th minute when Sesko latched onto a long ball and fired past Serbia goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.

Serbia pushed for an equaliser but were unable to find a way through the Slovenia defence until Jovic's late intervention.

The result means that Serbia are now unbeaten in their last four matches, while Slovenia have extended their winless streak to five games.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday, when Serbia face England and Slovenia take on Ukraine.
