Slovenia joined the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2004. EU membership has brought numerous benefits to Slovenia, including financial support and economic development opportunities.
Immigration Increase
After Slovenia joined the EU, the number of immigrants increased significantly, doubling by 2006 and increasing by half again by 2009.
